Objective of This Program

Even for Japanese people, it is rare to see or handle a real Japanese sword (*shinken*).
This program provides participants with a unique, extraordinary experience.
The goal of this program is to help participants understand and strengthen the importance of composure and focus in high-pressure situations by engaging in the intense process of “holding a real sword and cutting rolled mats.”
This training is particularly beneficial in professional settings as it enhances mental resilience. Additionally, from an ESG investment perspective and in alignment with OECD’s concept of *Well-being*, this experience holds significant value.
Furthermore, it can also serve as an exceptional hospitality experience for business partners and international guests.

Benefits of This Program

Everyone has faced moments when past successes or external noise cloud their judgment in critical decision-making.
This program trains participants to maintain composure and make calm, focused decisions when confronted with challenges.
When facing the rolled mat (*symbolizing challenges*), participants will realize that their true adversary is themselves—and their only reliance is also on themselves.
Moreover, this program can serve as a dynamic and impactful addition to lecture-based corporate training or seminars.

How This Course Differs from the Basic
Test Cutting Experience

While both programs provide a deep understanding of Japanese culture, samurai traditions, and Japanese swords, this course places a stronger emphasis on mental discipline.
After a fundamental lecture on Japanese swords, participants will practice swinging techniques using a *mogito* (practice sword).

During the test cutting segment, beginners often struggle due to the tension of holding a real sword for the first time. Additionally, preconceived notions from TV and movie sword fights can interfere with proper cutting techniques that were initially performed well during practice swings.

This mirrors real-world situations where stress, pressure, and past experiences can hinder effective decision-making.

There are two common patterns seen in unsuccessful cuts:
1. Participants become frustrated after failing to cut and swing even harder, making their technique even worse.
2. Participants become overconfident after successfully cutting several times, leading to careless mistakes.

However, when they calm their minds, return to the basics, and apply the advice given during practice, they find that the mat cuts effortlessly.

This martial arts training method, different from everyday professional settings, helps participants break free from fixed mindsets, maintain composure, and develop the ability to focus on tasks with clarity and precision.
